My 100th post! And a book raffle!

YOUR CHANCE TO WIN A FREE CHILDREN'S BOOK!

This is my 100th blog post.  Hooray!  I thought that, to make it a little bit more fun than just a regular review, I'd hold a raffle.  Anyone who comments on this blog post is eligible, and I'll choose one person on my birthday, next Saturday, 31 July.

If you win, you can choose ONE of the books I've blogged about in July.  (The exception being Have You Seen Trees? because it's out of print.  Oh, and only ONE of the Fancy Nancy books if you'd really want one of those.)  I'll probably add a good 15 more books between today and my birthday, so you'll have even more to choose from!

All you have to do is comment--and make sure I have a way of contacting you!  I'm pretty sure that most of you I know and contact via email or Facebook.  But if I don't know you (and how excited am I at the prospect of a non-family member or friend glancing at this blog!) please attach your name and email address so I can contact you to get your address.  I'm also kind of curious about who reads this...so let me know if who you are!

  2. Congrats on the 100th blog! It's so great that your little ones have read each and every one of these books (probably many, many times).

  5. I stumbled onto this post via Stacey Robinette's facebook; and I'm so glad I did. I just read your blog on Stan and Jan Berenstein. Those were some of my favorite books growing up! My favorite was the one where sister and brother bear clean and organize their room/house :) I completely agree about the new books and think that lots of other genres geared toward children have kinda gone down hill in recent years. Anyway, thanks for giving an honest commentary on children's books. It's so helpful when navigating the bookstore or library ourselves. P.S. How did you get your daughter so into reading? Do you think some of that is natural?

  6. What a wonderful idea! You've definitely found your niche...a way to read, express your opinions and stay a kid at heart! I've bookmarked your site and am slowly plowing through your posts. We seem to be in a little rut at our house so I am now trying to move Julia into a new direction. Has Lorelei discovered Pinkalicious? Purplicious and now Goldilicious? Along the same line as Fancy Nancy but more on the silly side!

  7. What a nice idea! I saw your post on MONA, and I look forward to exploring your blog further. Looks like there are a lot of great books to choose from, but since we're in the middle of moving and we already have a lot of books (not that one can ever have too many!) -- if I win the free book, I'm going to donate it to my favorite local preschool, Kinhaven School (www.Kinhaven.com). Thank you for offering this opportunity! -- Wendy@SwimLiz.com

  9. I saw your post on MONA as well, and is definitely a great blog! It's always great to get new ideas for kids books. Our house is already overflowing with books, but I can't seem to resist buying more, especially when I find good bargains at thrift stores and consigment sales. Good luck with your blog!

  12. Congrats Kate! We have thoroughly enjoyed your blog and discovering new books. You have us hooked on the Ladybug Girl books (although I agree that my least favorite part is the brother's relationship with her)! We actually just bought Ladybug Girl Dresses Up today at Target and Maddie is currently pretending to be an astronaut. I am still on the hunt for the Lili at the Ballet book so if you do ever see it - please pick it up for us and I will pay you back. Finally -- love the new layout. So easy to search and find a good book when we are in need of something new. Congrats! Your blog is awesome!

  13. Ok...the day is here...and Ben helped me choose one lucky name out of a Backyardigans bowl. Dionne is the winner. Hooray!

Thanks for playing & hope to hear from you all soon!
